After your INI-CET result: what to do next
Based on AIIMS New Delhi’s own prospectus, seat allocation brochure and result notifications (listed under Sources). Check aiimsexams.ac.in before you pay or lock anything. FindMyBranch is not part of AIIMS.
After the result comes seat allocation: the online process that turns your rank into a seat at an AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, NIMHANS or SCTIMST. The Examination Section of AIIMS New Delhi runs it for all of them. A few of its rules cost a seat, or ₹3 lakh, if you miss them. Here is a calm plan, one step at a time.

Check my INI-CET options1. On result day: note your rank
AIIMS puts the result on aiimsexams.ac.in as a result notification. For the January 2027 session, the prospectus sets the exam for 1 November 2026 and expects the result on 7 November 2026.
- Your overall rank is the number that counts. Seat allocation follows the merit list in the result notification, in order of overall rank.
- To be eligible for a seat you need the 50th percentile for UR (including OCI), EWS, sponsored and foreign national seats, or the 45th percentile for OBC, SC, ST and PwBD seats.
- Equal marks? The tie is broken by fewer negative marks, then a higher percentage in your MBBS or BDS, then age (older first), then name in alphabetical order.
- An INI-CET rank is a different number from a NEET-PG rank. The two cannot be compared.
If the result is hard to take, that is normal, and nothing here has to be done tonight. Our Results night page has a free helpline that answers day and night.
2. See which seats your rank can get
Enter your overall rank and category in the INI-CET tool. It checks your rank against AIIMS’s own seat allocation results for every session from January 2021 to July 2026, and only uses seat types you are allowed to take. The free view shows three seats in full (your best very likely seats and one stretch seat) and the true number of seats in each group. To browse first, the INI-CET closing ranks by branch are free to read. How to read them: reading an INI-CET closing rank.
3. Look at this session’s seat list
AIIMS publishes the final seat position before the result. It lists every institute’s seats by branch and by category, and it changes each session. For July 2026 it was Notice No. 68/2026 of 19 May 2026. Read any corrigendum too: on 9 June 2026, Corrigendum No. 21/2026 withdrew two seats from that list. A seat that is not on this session’s list cannot be allotted, whatever it closed at before.
4. Take part in Round 1. Do not wait for Round 2
- Eligible candidates log in to the PG Online Seat Allocation portal through their MyPage. AIIMS also emails the link and login details to your registered email.
- A choice is one institute plus one subject. There is no limit on how many you add, and you put them in your own order.
- A mock round comes first. It only shows the seat you would likely get; it is not an allotment. You can still edit your list after it. If you do not log in to fill Round 1 choices, your mock round choices are used.
- You can edit and reorder until the Round 1 deadline. Then the list is locked, by you or automatically.
- Round 2 uses your Round 1 list. You cannot add or change choices for it.
- Skip Round 1 and you lose Round 2. Candidates who did not register or fill choices for Round 1 cannot take part in Round 2. Only the Open Round is left to them.
How to order the list: INI-CET choice filling.
5. Get your papers ready now
- OBC and EWS certificates must be in the central government format and issued inside the dates the prospectus sets. For January 2027 that is 1 April 2026 to 13 October 2026. A state-only OBC certificate is rejected. Without a valid certificate you are placed on the UR merit list.
- PwBD candidates who get a seat go to AIIMS New Delhi for a medical board check of the disability certificate, on the date the round result gives.
- At reporting you hand over your original certificates with one set of self-attested copies, or self-attested copies with a ₹3 lakh demand draft in the name of “AIIMS MAIN GRANT ACCOUNT”. The draft comes back when the originals are deposited within five days. If they are not, the admission is cancelled and the money is forfeited.

6. Know the Round 1 rules before you lock anything
- There is no option to refuse a Round 1 seat. If you get one, you must log in and choose by the deadline: Option 1, accept and stop, or Option 2, accept and stay in Round 2.
- Choose nothing and you lose the seat, and Round 2 with it. Only the Open Round is left.
- Report in person either way, by the deadline in the result notification.
- Option 2 means moving up. If Round 2 gives you a better seat from your list, you must take it, and the Round 1 seat is released.
- Not joining costs ₹3 lakh. That is the penalty for not joining the Round 1 seat or the seat you were moved up to.

7. Know the timeline
AIIMS announces each round’s dates separately, after the result. The prospectus fixes only the ends: for the January 2027 session, courses start on 1 January 2027 and the last date of admission is 28 February 2027. To see how tight the rounds are, here is what happened in July 2026:
| Step, July 2026 session | Date |
|---|---|
| Result (date set in the prospectus) | 23 May 2026 |
| Round 1 registration and choices closed | 17 June 2026, 5 pm |
| Round 1 result | 24 June 2026 |
| Choose Option 1 or 2, and report in person | by 30 June 2026, 5 pm |
| Round 2 result | 10 July 2026 |
| Accept and report to the Round 2 seat | by 16 July 2026, 5 pm |
That is six days from a Round 1 result to the reporting deadline. Have your papers and travel planned before the result comes out.
